Practice Meritocracy, Create Jobs, and Address Restructuring For Stability and Prosperity of Nigeria - Presidential Candidate, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu
New York, USA: Professor Kingsley Moghalu, who is running for the office of President of Nigeria come 2019, has echoed the call for the practice of meritocracy, securing of Nigerian borders, creating jobs, and discussion of resource control and restructuring of Nigeria as viable means for achieving stability, progress, and continued unity of Nigeria. The candidate who served as deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria for 5 years made the call while answering questions at a special town hall/meet the candidate session held at the Hilton JFK New York Airport. Prof Moghalu whose extensive resume includes administrative and managerial services in various international organizations in both local and international arenas explained that restructuring will actually benefit northern Nigeria more than any other region of Nigeria, pointing out that several solid minerals that are in northern Nigeria are very much yet to be touched.
Professor Moghalu who worked for the united nations for 17 years is seen by many as a global leader who has made contributions to the stability, progress and wealth of nations, societies and individuals across such domains as academia, economic policy, banking, and finance. He made his case as the candidate who can bring both Diaspora and local experiences to the job of the presidency, stating that leadership and government appointments should be based on merit and ability, not on tribe, religion, or mere political affiliation. He laid down his vision and 4 year plan towards bringing Nigeria back to the top where it belonged but insisted that his success will depend on the involvement of Nigerians especially the youths whom he said are the backbone of his campaign which he described as a "youth-driven campaign."
The town hall/meet the candidate session which was hosted by TV personality and former Miss Nigeria and Nollywood actress, Regina Askia Williams attracted many attendees as well as online viewers and participants who said they were drawn by the freshness brought by the candidacy of Prof. Kingsley Moghalu who has never been part of the ruling political class in Nigeria. In response, Prof. Moghalu called on Nigerians to take charge of their future come 2019 by not only registering to vote but making effort practical effort to support and donate to his campaign since he is not part of the status quo and cannot boast of the massive finances boasted by the incumbent politicians and leading political parties in Nigeria. Asked which party he is running under, he answered that he has not joined any party yet as he wanted the people of Nigeria to focus on what he could bring to the table as a candidate not on what party he belongs to. He subsequently pointed out that he will soon announce which party he will be joining but that it will not be any of the three frontline parties at the moment in Nigeria.
