The Nollywood Producers Guild, USA (NPGUSA) recently held its annual winter 2019/
2020 get-together in New Jersey with members attending from around the United States. It was an evening of fun, music, and dance in which members of the guild and guests introduced and interacted with each other alongside the abundance of dinner and drinks. Most of the members, guests, and other attendees remain connected to film, arts, and theater despite the regular demands of their professional occupations.
The President of the Nollywood Producers Guild (NPGUSA) Filmmaker Oliver O. Mbamara in his speech reflected on the journey of the Guild and its members till present and urged members to stay united and committed, as they continue working towards the attainment of the goals and objectives of the Guild especially in producing improved content and “Building Foundation and Bridges for African Filmmaking”.
Among the special guests was the vice president of Association of Movie Producers (AMP) in Nigeria Filmmaker Foster Ojehonmon who flew in on behalf of AMP to conclude talks with NPGUSA regarding how the two bodies and their members can work together for the growth and improvement of their content and the Nollywood industries both in Nigeria and in the USA. The two associations agreed to make a joint press release on the collaboration arrangement.
Filmmaker Kelechi Eke, founder & executive director of The African Film Festival (TAFF) who flew in from Texas talked about the progress of TAFF in-spite of challenges. He also talked about the upcoming TAFF 2020 and urged all African filmmakers to take advantage of the opportunities that TAFF has to offer. Other guests include TV Producer Christine who talked about her TV show titled, ‘Unveiling Africa.’
The Guild also welcomed some aspiring new members such as Veteran Actor/Producer Oxford Onwuka who stated that it has been a dream come true for him to find and join the Nollywood Producers Guild, USA.
