Umunachi Community Organization 2003 Annual Summer Picnic, New York, July 2003

The Umunachi Community Organization in the United States, recently held their 2003 Annual Summer Picnic. The event featured members of the organization  and their relatives and friends. Our men, Oliver Mbamara, Esq. and Sir Felix Citor Nnorom were there to bring you the complete coverage accentuated by scintillating photo shots as usual.

The Kids had time to mingle and harness their talents. ABOVE is the young Uwaoma kicking off the ball.

COMPLETE PHOTO STORY BELOW

THE VENUE: Ferry Point Park in New York (Bronx).

HOW IT HAPPENED: It all started with a cheerful rising of the sun which announced the beautiful day. By noon, Umunachi indigenes from around the United States have gathered accompanied by friends and relatives. The atmosphere was positive with elders and children meeting and exchanging pleasantries. It did not take long for everyone to get down to the abundant African food, snacks and beverages. DJ Boniface Ikemenogu spiced things up with suitable rhythm and music from the turn table, and the women showed off their dancing skills led by Mrs. Ekeigwe and Dianne Anyaoha. It was fun galore. Midway through the day a couple of competing activities were held for the youth. Prominent was the egg-race and the bag-race. Winners were then presented with awards by the President of the organization - Charles Mbamara, CPA. As if all that was not enough, Eugene Anyikwa, Esq. supplied the house with a couple of Pizza boxes to compliment the African dishes and snacks, while Lolo Loretta Nwoke orchestrated the barbeque preparation with hotdogs to go as the crowd settled to the volley ball game, some soccer, and more dancing - zoukous, "owambe," reggae, hip-pop, all inclusive.  Our coverage team had so much fun and report that they can't wait to cover next year's picnic.
