The Nigerian Lawyers Association of USA Swearing-in ceremony on December 17, 2003

The Nigerians Lawyers Association of USA recently swore in newly elected members of her Executive Council and Board Members to steer the affairs of the Association for the year 2004. Speaking after the swearing-in ceremony, the newly sworn-in President Benjamin Okeke Esq., gave a heart warming address, and proceeded to lay out his vision and hope for the Association. He emphasized the need for unity within the Association and his determination to render a selfless service to the Association.  The event was significantly attended by the Press including our staff who covered the event with great photo-shots as usual.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The event commenced with the arrival and sitting of guests, attendees, dignitaries and NLA members including Officers and Directors to be sworn in. John Edozie who moderated the ceremony then introduced the officiating team including Judge Baynes and Mr. Victor Bosah (Acting Consul General of Nigeria, New York). Outgoing President, Shamsey Oloko gave a brief speech, and John Edozie then called upon the Officers and Directors to be sworn-in to approach the podium. The swearing-in was then conducted by Judge Baynes. Attendees were then invited to treat themselves to the generous refreshment available. The incoming President, Mr. Ben Okeke gave his inaugural speech followed by vote of thanks delivered by Ihenji Ugenyi, Esq. Attendees spent the rest of the evening freely interacting.

Executive council members: Ben Okeke, Esq., President; Theo Ogune, Esq., Vice President; Patrick Abohwo, Esq., Secretary; Diji Olugbodi, Esq., Treasurer; Oliver Mbamara, Esq., PRO; and Patrick Okeke, Esq., Parliamentarian.
