African Events.com coverage of the Inaugural Nigerian Leadership Summit in New York 2010

New York, New York:  The Nigeria Leadership Summit 2010 was recently held in New York. The Summit dwelt on Four Key Thematic areas: (1) Leadership for Change; (2) (3) Peace Building and Conflict Resolution; (3) Building Partnerships and Sustainable Development; and (4) Fighting Corruption. Among the speakers were: Ambassador Austin Nwosa (Minister, Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United States) who delivered the keynote address; Professor Chudi Uwazuruike who delivered a paper titled "Nigeria In Focus - Nigeria Today;" New York State Admin. Judge Oliver O. Mbamara (Attorney and Filmmaker), who delivered an open paper titled "Revamping The Nigerian Leadership: Applying What We Know." Other speakers include: Edgar Ridley of Edgar Ridley & Associates, Ifeanyi Obinali (head of Programs/CEO, Lead Nigeria) Prof. Augustine Okereke, Captain Aliyu Abdulsalam, Rev. Yakubu Pam, Attorney Ugorji Eze, Chidi Akoma, Jamie Ansorge, Paola Garcia, Seyi Olawumi, John Boyd, Alex Ticas, Vincent Nwachukwu, Asha Castleberry, and Seyi Olawunmi. Dr. Doloise Blakely (Community Mayor of Harlem and Goodwill Ambassador to Africa) delivered a special discourse titled "Nigerian Youths are the Future of Nigeria." ABOUT THE SUMMIT: The Summit was organized by L.E.A.D NIGERIA and Spyon Productions. LEAD Nigeria seeks to mobilize the collective talents of Nigerian youths through innovative projects, programs and commitments that will help in implementing real growth and sustainable development in Nigeria. The officers include: Ifeanyi Obinali, Head of Programs/CEO: Irish Ovie Ofobrukueta, Development Associate: Victoria Kalu, Program Planning and Implementation: Donald James, Programs Director: Anderson Lisgurd, Communications/Outreach Director: Alex Etu, Monitoring and Evaluation: Jennifer Nwachukwu, Head, Friendship Center: Joey Ugochukwu Ofili, Development and outreach coordinator.

In their own words. "At LEADNigeria, we provide a comprehensive leadership program that challenges the understanding of basic issues involving youths and young people as well as their leadership competencies with much training and emphasis on real life scenarios and world cases..."

The event which was held in downtown new York City at the Main Auditorium of Vincci Hotel New York City was well attended. MC was by Emeka Ayodeji Okoroafor and session moderations by Dr. Ihesinachi Okeke, Reginald Bassey, Vincent Nwachukwu CEO of Spyon Productions, and Victoria Amaka.
