Swearing in of new executives of the Nigerian Lawyers Association, USA in New York

New York, New York: The Nigerian Lawyers Association, USA recently swore in new officers for its new administration. In attendance were some members of the public, members of the legal profession both from the bench and the bar. Our man was there to bring you the exclusive coverage.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The event took place on December 9, 2005, at the City Bar, in New York. The ceremony was officiated by the Honorable Arthur F. Engoron, Judge, Civil Court of The City of New York, County of New York. Guests arrived in time and made themselves comfortable. MC, John Edozie, Esq., called on Wuyi Ogunyinka, Esq., to lead the opening prayer after which outgoing President, Tinuade Awe made a brief speech before the officiating Judge, Arthur Engoron took the podium to conduct the swearing-in ceremony. The Judge expressed his gladness to preside over the ceremony then got down to business. After the officers were sworn in, the new President, Placid Aguwa, Esq., gave his inaugural speech. Dinner was then served and those in attendance interacted with each other into the night.

 

The new officers are: President: Placid Aguwa, Vice President: Ikenna Emehelu, Secretary: Abayomi Ajaiyeoba, Treasurer: Uwem Umoh, Public Relations Officer: Adaobi Ukabam, Parliamentarian: Ndidi Oriji. Board Members: Beatrice Hamza-Bassey, Tinuade Awe, Wuyi Ogunyinka, Yewande Odia, and Francis Ononaji
