ChAT WITH THE DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF IMO STATE OF NIGERIA, CHIEF ENGR. EBERE
UDEAGU DURING THE MBANO INAUGURAL
BALL IN NEW JERSEY ON SEPTEMBER 13, 2003
BELOW
IS THE COMPLETE TEXT
AFRICAN EVENTS:
Thank you for giving us a few minutes of your time.
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: It is my pleasure.
AFRICAN EVENTS: We know that the program demands your attention, so we will go straight to the point. Why are you here today?
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: It is an Imo State event, a Nigerian event, so I am glad to identify with it.
AFRICAN EVENTS: That is very patriotic.
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: Thank you. An event like this is a rare opportunity for our people here to identify with what is going on at home so it has to be encouraged.
AFRICAN EVENTS: You mean the Inauguration of the Mbano Association in New Jersey aimed at helping to provide amenities for those at home?
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: Yes. A forum for promoting home culture. I recommend it for all other communities. Individuals make up the Government. They should not let go because the Government cannot go it all alone.
AFRICAN EVENTS: So what do you see in the future of this organization and its objectives, and how can the Government of Imo State contribute to its growth and strength?
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: I won't be able to answer that question because I was just invited not long ago. I have not been given the details of the of the organization.
AFRICAN EVENTS: In that case we will stop here so far, and hopefully talk to you again sometime after the event when you might have been abreast of the organizations goals and objectives. But thank you again for your time.
DEP. GOV. UDEAGU: Thank you.
