Harlem Book Fair 2009 - Schomburg Library for Black Culture & Civilization

New York:  The Harlem Book Fair 2009, was recently held in Harlem, New York with attendees coming from around the world. Among the focus this year were a number books by a diverse list of authors mostly African   and African American authors some of which earned roundtable discussions such as "What future for African Union - faced with a hedonistic elite?" Insights from P.Chudi Uwazurike's “Instrumental Pan-Africanism,” (politics) “The Flycatcher’s Identity” (play) & "Nwuzor Nwanna and the Song of a Thousand Tunes" (novel). Our staff was there to bring you exclusive photo-coverage.

Chudi Uwazurike, City University of New York, founder of African Profiles USA & Globe Magazine, whose books 'Instrumental Pan-Africanism" and "At the Crossroads And Beyond - Another Nigeria Is Possible" are currently making the rounds. HOW IT HAPPENED: It was a lively sunny day as the event kicked off early in the day with guests coming from far and near. Several book stands were set up while book panel discussions went on in many rooms around the fair area including the Schomburg.

Also, stage performances, readings, music and more took place on the entertainment stage that closed down the street. Attendance ran into thousands while book stands and other stalls carrying artistic materials were all over the surrounding streets.
