Which Way Nigeria? A Constant Cry For Help
- Anthony Claret
Under the impression of progressive pragmatism of the new democratic regime, a lot of issues are still lost in the scene on the way to make Nigeria a better and "haven" for its world class Citizens to live on.
Succumbing to affirmative and sweet-coated political jaundice in the so call “fair and equal” share of goods and natural endowments, almost 85% of our people are still suffering from poverty and unemployment. Many are dying due to lack of knowledge.
This continues to build and solidified the notorious jargon that supports the trends of rich becoming richer and the poor becoming poorer syndrome. I want to ask a simple question to Nigeria, which way for my people? Which way for Nigeria? Which way for our future leaders? Which way for our youths? Which way for our visions? Can any body answer me? I am beginning to think that our Country will not have any radical change in the next 20 years. Are we happy been remarked as one of the poorest country? Are we happy noted as the 3rd most corrupt country in the world? Are we happy noted to be a debt country? What is happening to Nigeria? The world-renowned Giant of Africa, Where is our Youth? Does our present government ever care about the future of youth? Do they care about their education? Which way Nigeria?
I am a Nigerian and a proud one too. I don't tolerate any intimidation from any one whatsoever about my country. I am not chauvinistic but a full-fledge patriotic citizen. I love my country. My country is well endowed with all natural resources. My country is renowned for their cultural heritage, their inspiring ability in the field of sport, brains, and initiatives. But the misconduct in the administration and mismanagement of these resources demands an outcry for help. We are handicapped in the development of social, economical, political, educational segment of my country, which are the mainstream and the supposed life-giving stand for our people.
I would like if my country could bend low to learn from the growing countries in these recent times. Let us look at Malaysia, China, Thailand and other third world. They are growing with a surmountable rate in technology and otherwise. Let us learn from them.
