Echoes of Africa 2004 Festival in Philadelphia United States of America

AFRICOM and other African organizations like ACANA in conjunction with the office of Councilwoman, Jannie L. Blackwell hosted another successful African Festival in Philadelphia on June 25 and 26, 2004. Our staff was there to bring you the coverage with exclusive shots as usual

MASQUERADE SHOW by African Theater USA and United African Artists

PARADE OF AFRICAN COUNTRIES: The parade of flags in representation of all African Countries.


HOW IT HAPPENED: Festivities started on June 25 with a pre-event reception where Mr. Peter Ogbeche delivered an inspiring lecture. On July 26, the festival continued with a brunch reception at the Philadelphia Zoo where Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell presented some community leaders and officials with awards for their contribution in empowering the African Refugee and communities. Some of the dignitaries in attendance include the Ambassadors and Representatives of several countries such as Mali, Liberia, Haiti, etc. Festivities then moved to the Malcolm X park where there was a parade of flags of African nations followed by the sitting of dignitaries, speeches, and cultural display by various artists including the Masquerade entertainment by the African Theater Troupe and United African Artists.
