African Masquerade outing and celebration for end of year and new year - 2006 and 2007

Nigeria, West Africa:  Several communities in African countries use the end of the calendar year as a time of annual reunion. During the recent end of year and beginning of year celebrations, several communities in southeastern Nigeria celebrated their annual outing of masquerades and other cultural dances for the public. CENTER OF ATTRACTION: A masquerade in the middle of town

 

 

CENTER OF ATTENTION: A masquerade gets the attention of all including Motorbike transporters (Okada men) supposed to be on duty.


HOW IT HAPPENS:   

People gather from far and wide including other states and other parts of the world. A sort of carnival and a gathering of merrymaking and display of all sorts of cultural masquerade and related dances. A great opportunity for interaction and meeting of old and new friends.
