HOW
IT HAPPENED:
After some gathering arrangements on 112th street, the parade took off following the designated route: From 112th Street up on Malcolm X Blvd to 116th Street. A left turn on 116th Street (Little Africa) and up all the way to Morningside Ave. A left turn on Morningside Ave. A Walk down to 114th Street. A right and entry into the park and performance stage area.
There was a brief gathering on 116th street as each country stopped for a moment to display its cultural groups, bands, artists, music, dance, and more. Later the crowd moved into the park for more African cultural display, food, people, businesses, NGOs, models, fashion show, arts and crafts, vendors, fun for the whole family! It was indeed a display of African culture in its richness and diversity as
glamorous and creative African traditional outfits and accessories dominated the streets of Harlem and New York City.
Organizers include Koné, Sylvie, DJ Watt, Olivier, Angelo, Paule-Sylvie Yonké of Global African Experience and more.
